Edu and Mikel Arteta have already made Matteo Guendouzi transfer decision amid fresh interest

Matteo Guendouzi could be headed for a permanent exit from Arsenal ahead of this sumer.

The Frenchman has been on loan with Hertha Berlin this season having fallen out with Gunners boss Mikel Arteta towards the end of last term.

Guendouzi featured regularly for Arsenal last season before a poor challenge and post-match altercation during a clash at Brighton, something which led to a falling out between him and Arteta.

The Arsenal boss and technical director Edu were not impressed with the 22-year-old's attitude, and after he was frozen out of the starting XI, it was no surprise to see Guendouzi depart on loan ahead of this season.

Guendouzi appears to have enjoyed life in Germany, but even with that, it's unlikely he will reject a move back to his home country this summer with Marseille interested in pulling off a deal.

According to Le10 Sport, Marseille are eyeing a move for Guendouzi this summer and are expecting their move to go 'favourably' with the view of wrapping up negotiations shortly after the end of the season.

The French midfielder is out of contract in 2022, meaning Arsenal will have to sell him this summer if they want to make money from him, with a new contract very unlikely.

And it seems that will be the case with Marseille, moving quickly to get to the front of the queue ahead of any interest from Germany, where Guendouzi has helped Hertha dodge the drop this season.

Guendouzi has been at Arsenal since 2018 when he joined on a fee believed to be worth around £7million from Lorient.

The report claiming he could be heading to Marseille does not mention a fee, though Transfermarkt value the midfielder at £18million, a figure that could be reduced somewhat given he only has a year left on his contract and the fact he is apparently not wanted back at the Emirates Stadium.
