Edu adds Raphinha alternative to transfer list as Arsenal enter crucial 24 hour decision window

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Leeds United winger Raphinha this summer and now face a crucial 24 hours.

A decision on Raphinha's future is expected within 24 hours with Chelsea, Arsenal and Barcelona all competing for the Brazilian's signature, according to the Evening Standard. football.london understands the Brazilian wants a move to the Spanish giants despite the Blues agreeing a fee with Leeds, whilst Arsenal have not given up hope of bringing Raphinha to the Emirates despite being snubbed earlier this summer.

With Chelsea leading the race, Arsenal may need to look at alternative transfer targets as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his squad ahead of a busy 2022/23 campaign. Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby has emerged as a potential alternative to the Brazil international, but the Gunners face competition from Premier League rivals Newcastle.

According to reporter Pete O'Rourke, Arsenal are likely to have Diaby on their transfer shortlist should they miss out on a deal for Raphinha. Premier League rivals Newcastle United are ready to make Diaby their record transfer this summer, with the Magpies heavily linked with a £50million move for the France international.

O’Rourke thinks Arteta and Edu could enter the race for Diaby now that the Gunners have little chance of signing Raphinha. Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: “Diaby is probably on the list of a number of top clubs who are looking at attacking wingers this summer, and I’m sure Arsenal are no different."

“Obviously, they tried for Raphinha, but it looks like he wants only to join Barcelona, so I’m sure they’re looking at other potential targets. Diaby, as I said, will be on the list of a lot of top clubs because he’s been a proven performer for Leverkusen and also for France," O'Rourke added.

The French winger is younger, cheaper and provided more goals and assists than the Leeds star last season, registering 17 goals and 14 assists in 42 appearances in all competitions last term. The Gunners had a bid rejected for Raphinha earlier this summer and are yet to return with an improved offer after completing a £45million deal for Gabriel Jesus.
