Here is your Chelsea morning digest for Friday, September 18.
Ferdinand outlines what Lampard loves about Ziyech
Rio Ferdinand has outlined the one thing that Frank Lampard loves about new signing Hakim Ziyech.
The former Ajax winger was the club’s first signing earlier this year and the Blues boss is a huge fan of him.
Referencing a conversation he had with Lampard, Ferdinand said : “You know what I spoke to Frank the other day about Ziyech.
“He said: ‘His passing is ridiculous.’
“I’m looking to see them passes when he cuts with his left foot and has the likes of Mason Mount, Timo Werner, Kai Havertz etc all making runs. I think Ziyech will be putting it on a plate for these boys.”
Gallagher seals West Brom loan move
Chelsea midfielder Connor Gallagher has completed a loan move to newly-promoted West Brom.
The youngster will join the Baggies on a season-long loan deal with the paperwork all but complete for the move.
The 20-year-old impressed during loan spells with Charlton Athletic and Swansea City last season. It therefore only stood as a matter of time before a Premier League club came in with a loan offer after he recently signed a new long-term deal with the Blues.
A good number of minutes in the Premier League with West Brom will be invaluable for Gallagher as he eyes further development in senior football.
Mendy deal edging closer
Stade Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy is close to signing a deal with Chelsea.
That is according to the shot-stopper’s agent, Djily Dieng, who has said that both clubs have reached an agreement for the £20million-rated Senegal international.
As quoted by the Metro, Mendy’s agent said: "The two parties have come to an agreement.
"All that’s left is the formalisation. It could even be done [Friday], if all goes well.
"Afterwards, the player himself will come to finalise everything, including having his medical examination."
