Edouard Mendy says that Chelsea are seeing the benefits of Thomas Tuchel's clear management style, with the players knowing exactly what he wants from them.
The Blues are unbeaten since the German coach replaced Frank Lampard in January, and won the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday, securing an all-important away goal in the 1-0 victory.
Mendy says that Tuchel is able to stay positive while bringing a determination to the job, and pushes the players in training and in matches.
"The coach gives confidence to all the players," Mendy told the club website. "We know what he wants so when we are on the pitch, we have to show why he has chosen us.
"He is very expressive and he shows when he likes something. When you do well on the pitch, every day at training and in the games, he pushes you.
"He stays positive but he also shows his determination, which is good for me and the team
"It was tough [against Atletico] but we won and that is what we wanted.
"The key to our success was the intensity in the game. We ran a lot, we kept the ball and they suffered. It was a good game but it’s only half-time [in the tie] so we need to stay focused."
Mendy has earned a place as No.1 goalkeeper following his move from Rennes in the summer, and insists that there is a three-way battle with Kepa Arrizabalaga and Willy Caballero to keep hold of his place in the team.
"I fight with Kepa but with Willy as well," Mendy added.
"The coach has said that he needs three strong goalkeepers. We need to be ready and we have to show it to start on the pitch."
