A man has been charged after a series of knife attacks in Edmonton, north London.

Jason Kakaire was charged on Friday with five counts of attempted murder.

A spokesperson for Scotland Yard said officers were not seeking anyone else in connection with the investigation.

The five attacks occurred between 30 March and 2 April and left one victim fighting for his life, with two others facing potentially life-changing injuries.

Officers earlier said the victims were approached from behind and stabbed, describing the attacks as seemingly “senseless” and “very unprovoked”.

At least one local school was reported to have initiated a lockdown procedure following the attacks.

Mr Kakaire will appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court later on Friday.
