Edmonton stabbing: Woman fights for life after being knifed in the back in street

A woman is in a critical condition after being stabbed in an attack in north London, police have said.

Officers were called to Edmonton shortly after 7pm after the woman, believed to be in her 40s, suffered a stab wound to her back.

The victim was taken to a hospital in east London, where emergency services say she remains in a critical condition.

Police are still searching for the suspect and no arrests have been made, a spokesman said.

The suspect is described as black, of a skinny build, and approximately 6ft 3ins tall. He was possibly wearing dark clothing.

The crime scene still remains intact, and enquiries continue to establish the circumstances of the assault.
