EDMC sacks nurse absent for five years

NEW DELHI: East Delhi Municipal Corporation has decided to remove a male nurse in Swami Dayanand Hospital (SDN) as he was absent from duty for the last five years.

“Disciplinary proceedings for major penalty were initiated against Pushpender Singh Barawa, male staff nurse of SDN hospital, for remaining absent from duty — in an unauthorised way — from 1/02/2018 till date and for not responding to the memos issued by the department,” said an order issued by the vigilance department, EDMC.

According to the corporation, the action to sack the male nurse was taken according to Delhi Municipal Corporation Service (Control and Appeal) Regulations of Delhi Municipal Act, which also gives one last opportunity to respond to the communication from the corporations.

“Pushpinder Barawa, is hereby given an opportunity to make such representation as he wishes to make against the aforesaid orders. He may do so within 15 days, failing which it will be presumed that he has no representation to make,” said the order further.
