Defending her decision to resist the pernicious anti-Israel boycotters and appear at this week's Meteor Festival in Israel, Lana Del Rey told her 8.9 million Twitter followers that she was a "simple singer," that "music is universal," and that performing in Israel "is not a political statement." We applauded her move.
Now, just ahead of the three-day festival, the "simple singer" withdrew. She claims she wants to perform in both the Palestinian territories and Israel "and treat all my fans equally" _ and that since the former can't happen yet, the latter won't either.
Sounds like a copout to us.
