It's a good thing Virginians rejected Ken Cuccinelli as their governor a few years ago and that Republicans in the U.S. Senate don't want him running the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, as he is clearly a cruel and ignorant man. No wonder President Trump installed him as acting immigration chief to inflict as much damage as possible.
Blabbing on NPR, in defense of the indefensible Trump changes that will deny green cards to legal immigrants who use food stamps or Medicaid or Medicare prescription coverage or housing assistance, Cuccinelli suggested amending Emma Lazarus's ageless poem at Lady Liberty's base to read: "Give me your tired and your poor _ who can stand on their own two feet and who will not become a public charge."
Like his boss Trump, Cuccinelli seems to like only rich immigrants, not the millions of poor strivers fleeing oppression and destitution who sailed past the Mother of Exiles in the harbor. You know, the people who came seeking work, who built this country, who fought our wars, and whose modern-day successors do the jobs the rest of us don't want.
People like poor Italian immigrants Dominic Cucciniello and Fortuna Preziosi, Ken Cuccinelli's great grandparents.
