Editor receives award for his paper's fund-raising feat

The editor of the Daily Echo in Bournemouth, Neal Butterworth, has received a special award in recognition of the £6m raised through his paper in the past seven years. Butterworth was made a Paul Harris Fellow, an international honour named after the founder of the Rotary Club, by the Bournemouth Rotary branch. "I accepted the award on behalf of the thousands of readers who have raised the money", said Butterworth. The £6m has been spent on building a specialist breast care unit at Poole Hospital, buying scanners for Bournemouth Hospital and creating a new centre for autistic children.
