Edison Group establishes headquarters in North Ayrshire

Construction and property business Edison Group has established its headquarters in newly-refurbished premises in North Ayrshire.

It has taken more than 2,000 sq ft of the two-storey, Grade B listed building at 65 High Street, Irvine.

The company is now looking for 12 more administrative team members, including those experienced in finance and HR.

“Irvine is a great location for us, offering lots of opportunities to win construction, refurbishment and project management contracts throughout Ayrshire and beyond,“ explained founder and chief executive Calum Melville.

“We are firmly in the market to acquire businesses that are complementary to our group activities and are projecting sales of £20m on a rolling 12 months basis by the end of 2023, driven both by already-planned strategic acquisitions and organic growth.

“Edison Group has decades of experience in starting, buying, building and growing businesses, both organically and by acquisition, driving operational and financial excellence and significantly increasing value for all stakeholders, so we believe we have the right ingredients to succeed in a challenging environment.”

Melville continued: “We are investing substantial sums to build an infrastructure and platform to drive growth over the next few years with an expanded offering which includes construction, project management, architectural services, bespoke joinery, furniture manufacture, interior design, interior fit out, all trades, driveways, landscaping, property maintenance and refurbishment.“

Late last year, Edison acquired Glasgow-based GDC Design, which is projecting sales of £4m in 2023.

It also recently invested six figures to take a 50% controlling interest in the Property Solutions Company, which trades in residential and commercial property.

Edison operates throughout Scotland and as far south as Birmingham, providing bespoke manufacturing, interior fit, design and project management to local authorities, central government, charities, NHS trusts, dentists, hospitality, retail and construction clients.

During 2022, the business added £2.7m worth of properties to the portfolio, which is projected to grow to 90 properties by the end of 2023.
