Incoming Manchester United signing Edinson Cavani is allegedly so keen to kick off his spell at the club that he asked them if he could make his debut in Sunday's humiliating defeat to Tottenham.
The Uruguayan striker is close to being unveiled by the Red Devils after he agreed a two-year deal worth a reported £200,000-a-week, and he is set to become their second new signing this summer following the capture of Donny van de Beek in August.
Cavani flew to Manchester this weekend to complete a medical, and is clearly desperate to get involved as quickly as possible.
According to The Times , while undergoing his medical Cavani asked if there was any chance he would be able to make his first appearance in the game against Spurs.

Ultimately the paperwork was not completed in time, however, and Cavani will have to wait until after the international break before making his Premier League bow, which could come against Newcastle on October 17.
In the end Cavani may have been relieved to miss out after United were thrashed 6-1 by Jose Mourinho's side at Old Trafford.
The result was a record-equalling worst Premier League defeat for the club, and heaps the pressure on manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after their far from convincing start to the season.
After the game Solskjaer told BBC Sport: "It is the worst day of my career as Manchester United manager and the worst day for all of them as United players.

"It is not the worst day in Manchester United history, we have bounced back before.
"To explain now is quite difficult. We have been beaten 6-1 at home by a very good side but we have contributed a lot to our own downfall."
As well as Cavani, United are likely to complete a deal to sign Porto left-back Alex Telles on transfer deadline day, and it remains to be seen if there are any other moves in the pipeline before the window slams shut at 11pm.
