Edinson Cavani to Chelsea: Atletico Madrid hand Blues and Man United transfer boost

Time is running out for Chelsea to make any transfer deals this month with the Blues on the hunt for a new striker.

It looks like, if a deal is to be done in January, it is only going to be for one player, with Frank Lampard keen on a forward to add to his attacking options.

Players have been linked with the Blues throughout the month, with one of them being Edinson Cavani.

The Uruguayan is keen to leave PSG after having slipped down the pecking order up front after Mauro Icardi's arrival in France.

Cavani has been linked with a move to Manchester United as well, but it's rumoured that the 32-year-old is keen on a move to Atletico Madrid.

However, Atletico president Enrique Cerezo has denied that there has been any contact about the striker moving to the Wanda Metropolitano.

"There is absolutely nothing with the player," Cerezo told AS .

"We need to score goals and we have a great goalscorer, but what we are missing now is a bit of luck and we are not taking our chances.

"Transfers are always complicated but at the moment there is nothing."
