Edinson Cavani sets "pretty important" personal target after Man Utd transfer

Edinson Cavani has his sights on the back of the net after admitting it is vital he finds the net regularly.

The forward was a late arrival at Manchester United having been a free agent following his release by PSG.

United had been in the market for another striker and began looking at their options after it became clear a deal for Jadon Sancho was looking unlikely.

Cavani has a proven track record of scoring goals following successful spells at Napoli and in Paris.

Last term he found his options limited, but left the Parc des Princes as PSG's all-time leading scorer.

His 49-goal haul in the 2016/17 season was a career high and proves he has the talent to back up his ambitions as he battles to be a starter at Old Trafford.

“I hope I can score plenty, and I’ll be working hard towards doing that," Cavani told United’s official website .

“As I said earlier, I’m coming here with a real desire to work hard and to prepare, and to be available for my team-mates and to the manager for selection.

"I want to be able to take all that effort and hard work out onto the pitch, and together be able to achieve great things, big things with Manchester United.

“I’m so keen and excited to get playing and competing again, and God willing, I can score goals, which is pretty important for everybody and also for me, as a striker. For the fans, for everyone.

“So, as I said, I'm dying to start training so I can be ready to be scoring goals, so we can all enjoy them and have some good times together.”

United are in desperate need of a response following their disastrous start to the season.

The club bought in several new faces on deadline day including Alex Telles from Porto.
