Edinson Cavani could make his Manchester United debut against Chelsea this evening.
The former Paris Saint-Germain striker joined the Red Devils for free on transfer deadline day earlier in the month after his contract with the Ligue 1 giants expired at the end of last season.
And after missing wins over Newcastle United as well as his former club in the past week, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed Cavani would be in contention to face the Blues.
"I hope and expect all three of them [Cavani, Harry Maguire and Mason Greenwood] to be available for selection," he said in his pre-match press conference, as per the Manchester Evening News.
"Of course we’ve got a training session this morning which is the last chance of preparation, but they’ve all got a chance, all of them.
"Edinson needs to tick all the boxes that he’s gone through in his programme to be ready and make an impact.
"I’ll have a discussion with him today, as well as with Mason and Harry."
Having been named on the bench at Old Trafford, Cavani has ticked all necessary boxes and will be waiting to see if he's needed by Solskjaer at some point during the evening.
Eagerly awaiting his Man United and Premier League debut, Cavani took to social media ahead of kick-off to send a message to Frank Lampard and Chelsea.
"Beautiful responsibility," he wrote on Instagram. "Eagerly looking forward."
If Cavani does make an appearance off the bench he will come up against Thiago Silva - his former teammate at PSG - and he's already sent a message to the Blues defender.
"It will be great to be able to find him on the pitch," the striker told EN24 News.
"Thiago is very professional, because he works so hard in training and in the pre-match warm-ups. Well, it won't be easy!
"It will be complicated because he is a very good central defender and an excellent footballer.
"But it will still be a great experience."
