Edinson Cavani drops Manchester United debut hint

Edinson Cavani has hinted he expects to make his Manchester United debut against Chelsea on Saturday after talking up a potential battle with his former Paris Saint-Germain teammate Thiago Silva.

The experienced duo spent seven years together at PSG, with Cavani arriving one year after Silva in 2013 before they both departed on free transfers earlier this year.

While Silva has made four appearances for Chelsea so far, Cavani moved to Old Trafford on transfer deadline day and is yet to make his debut after undergoing a two-week period of isolation that only ended last weekend.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer speaks to the media ahead of Chelsea

"It will be great to be able to find him on the pitch," Cavani told EN24 News of Silva. "Thiago is very professional, because he works so hard in training and in the pre-match warm-ups. Well, it won't be easy!

"It will be complicated because he is a very good central defender and an excellent footballer. But it will still be a great experience."

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hinted Cavani is set to play a part against Chelsea. Speaking in his press conference on Friday morning, he said: "Edinson wants to tick all the boxes that he's gone through in his programme to be ready and make an impact. His last preparation is going to be today and then I will have a discussion."
