Edinson Cavani remains "annoyed" that he faced a ban following an Instagram post as doubts emerge over his Manchester United future.
The forward only moved to Old Trafford in the summer having left PSG when his contract expired.
Cavani signed a one-year deal with the option of a further 12 months, but his father has declared his son "unhappy" as he seeks an exit.
The Uruguayan, who is linked with Boca Juniors, made his mark with a match winning brace against the Saints in November.
He posted on social media in Spanish after the game, but his words were deemed to a breached FA Rule E3 and he was fined £100,000 and banned for three games.

An FA statement said: "A comment posted on the Manchester United FC striker's Instagram page was insulting, abusive, improper and brought the game into disrepute contrary to FA Rule E3.1. The post also constitutes an "aggravated breach", which is defined in FA Rule E3.2, as it included reference, whether express or implied, to colour and/or race and/or ethnic origin.
But Cavani's father has referenced the incident as source of frustration for his son.
Speaking to Argentine football programme Superfutbol on the TyC Sports network, the striker’s father said: “My son is not happy in England and wants to return nearer his family. He wants to play in South America.
“I want Edinson to play for a team which fights for important trophies. He has had many conversations with [Boca vice-president Juan Roman] Riquelme and would like to play for Boca.

“At the halfway point of the year, he’d like to return to South America. My son’s idea is not to continue there [in Manchester]. He wants to return.
"I think he's going to come back in June this year. He has a clause in his contract which allows him to leave in June.
"There are things which sometimes annoy us as humans, as people, the whole 'n*grito' ban issue annoyed him.
"That has been playing on him, sometimes players can't find form either, these things can weigh heavy on you. Sometimes mentally you can get dragged down."
