The Scottish Government currently hold a review of current lockdown restrictions every three weeks as a minimum - and today (18 June) was an official review date - with many eagerly anticipating an easing of current restrictions.
During today's daily briefing, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has confirmed the much-anticipated news that Scotland is set to move forward to phase two of the Scottish Government's route map out of coronavirus lockdown.
This phase allows outdoor businesses such as zoos and garden attractions to reopen from the June 29 - allowing Edinburgh Zoo to finally open its doors after weeks of petitions and crowdfunding for the popular city attraction.
Last week the zoo's boss has warned how their dire finances could put the popular attraction which attracts tourists and locals at risk, and the penguins would be the first to go.
Now Edinburgh locals will be able to visit the Zoo in just 11 days time - but shouldn't travel more than five miles to visit according to the new guidance.
Lib Dem MSP Alex Cole-Hamilton, Conservative MSP Ruth Davidson, Green MSP Andy Wightman and Labour MSP Daniel Johnson have also appealed to the government in previous weeks to protect the hundreds of jobs at the zoo.
