Edinburgh Zoo to host magical light show that's perfect for entertaining little ones this winter

Edinburgh Zoo is set to light up this winter with a magical journey for families to the North Pole and back.

The Royal Zoological Society is looking to welcome guests next month with a spectacular evening trail around the zoo for the festive period.

Running from Friday November 20, the wildlife charity is taking visitors on a family-friendly voyage with striking projections, twinkling fairy lights, candy canes, nutcrackers and much more.

Featuring a moonlit trip to Penguins Rock, the event is designed for limited visitor numbers with a wide range of safety measures in place.

Teaming up with projection specialists NL Productions and Double Take Projections for the event, the RZSS say tickets will start at £12 for children and £18 for adults and must be booked online in advance.

A spokesperson for the zoo said: "The Christmas Nights are sure to make your evenings merry and bright this festive season.

"Guests can make their visit extra special by also booking a trip to meet Santa at his grotto (limited slots remaining), enjoy storytime with Mrs Claus or go all out with a full day Christmas VIP experience at the zoo."
