Edinburgh Zoo shares adorable video of panda playing with empty cardboard box

Edinburgh Zoo keepers have shared an adorable video of one of their panda’s playing with a cardboard box over the festive period.

The video, which was captured and shared by keeper Kirsty, has been viewed over one thousand times in the short time that that it has been online.

Yang Guang can be seen to be enjoying the box that was filled with treats as a Christmas gift.

At first, Yang is not entirely sure as to what the magical contraption is, and begins to poke and prod as they try to figure it out.

The furry bundle of joy then sticks their head through the box and tries to use the new toy as a makeshift dress or tunnel - it is not really clear the motives of this panda.

But when half way through, Yang decides that the box would look better as a necklace, and decides to scavenge the floor for some green goodness with the item still attached.

In the post on their Instagram, Edinburgh Zoo says: “Our keepers gave Yang Guang a lovely box of treats over the festive period... turns out he liked the box more.”

It was feared that Yang Guang as well as Tian Tian would have to return to China after their ten year visit to Scotland was set to end.

But the Chinese government agreed to extend the lease relating to their stay, meaning that those visiting the zoo will be able to enjoy the charismatic pair for a little longer.
