Edinburgh Zoo have sadly announced the death of their eldest chimpanzee, David.
The animal, born at the zoo in 1975, had been experiencing age related health problems and was put to sleep to ensure he didn't suffer.
David was 46-years-old - making him one of the eldest animals at the zoo - and as he was remembered as a "lively" member of the troop.

He retired as the group's alpha a a few years ago and had six babies during his time at the zoo.
Announcing the sad news on Twitter, Edinburgh Zoo said: "We are sad to announce the loss of David, our eldest chimpanzee, who had been experiencing age related health problems.
"Taking into account his quality of life and wellbeing, our vets and animal keepers advised David should be put to sleep to ensure he did not suffer.

"At 46-years-old, David was one of our oldest animals, born here in 1975.
" He was a lively member of our troop with a big personality, even after he retired as the group’s alpha some years ago.
"David fathered six babies, including Kilimi who still lives at Budongo Trail."
