The Zoo announced the two names chosen are Rusky and Tulla.

Posting on their official Facebook page, the zoo wrote: "Introducing... Rusky and Tulla

"Thank you to everyone who voted on our keepers' shortlist.

"Our top tip for visitors is to try spotting them towards the end of the day and remember to look up.

"This adorable pair are part of the UK-wide conservation breeding programme we manage at the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) as part of our work with partners to restore Scotland's wildcat population!

The elusive cats, dubbed the Tiger of the Highlands, are incredible rare with there now thought to be less than 35 left in the wild, at small remote sites in the Highlands.

Carnivore team leader at Edinburgh Zoo, Alison Maclean, stated that the team are thrilled to have welcomed the new arrivals, she said: “The youngsters are doing well and we will be asking for the public’s help to name them in the coming weeks.”
