An Edinburgh nursery has been trashed after a gang of youths broke in at the weekend.
Nippers Nursery in Dalmeny have slammed the YMD group after their site was left covered in spray paint, with a number of items vandalised.
Staff were shocked on Monday to see the damage, and have now had to limit access for their children, with certain play zones and areas heavily tarnished.
Broken bottles and cigarette ends were also found both inside and out of the nursery building.
Described as "disgusting behaviour", police enquiries are now underway to find the culprits, with officers confirming the incident occurred at some point between 5.30pm on Friday (April 16) and 7.30am today (April 19).
Furious at the actions of the group, staff had shared images of the damage online, which was met with similar reactions from locals.
After being shared on Facebook, one user wrote: "Absolutely disgusting behaviour. No excuse."
Another replied: "This is absolutely disgusting, makes me so sad. U all put in so much hard work creating a safe and fun environment for all the kids. Just no need for this."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers in South Queensferry received a report of vandalism at a premises on Main Street in Dalmeny which happened sometime between 5.30pm on Friday, 16 April and 7.30am on Monday, 19 April.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
