Two Edinburgh pensioners were raced to hospital on Tuesday after being struck down by a car in the city centre.
Police and emergency serviced had rushed to the scene on Castle Terrace and temporarily closed the road after reports were made of the crash. Taking place at around 2.35pm, the two women, aged 65 and 72, were taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh in an ambulance to receive urgent medical treatment.

Their current condition is currently unknown. Enquiries are ongoing into the incident, with police later reopening the road to traffic, reports STV News.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police were called to a report of a crash between a car and two pedestrians on Castle Terrace in Edinburgh at around 2.35pm on Tuesday, July 19, 2022.
“Emergency services attended and two women, aged 65 and 72, were taken by ambulance to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment. The road reopened around 3pm.”
