Edinburgh woman says courier left iPhone in her wheelie bin on collection day

Hundreds of people had their say when we asked our readers to share the most unusual places delivery drivers had left parcels at their home.

Among them was a woman who says her iPhone was dropped in a wheelie bin on collection day, a man who found a parcel inside his locked garage, and a lady who says a box was chucked through her window – damaging her blinds.

We've reported previously on Edinburgh Live some of the complaints raised about various courier companies.

So we weren't too surprised to see pages upon pages of comments from people looking to share their own experiences.

Below were some of the most interesting replies we received.

Libby Sullivan said: "In the wheelie bin. On bin collection day. Bye bye iPhone!"

Steven Farquhar posted: "My AirPods where in my food waste bin."

Karen McDermid Gorrie commented: "Last week in my wheelie bin that had just been emptied I’m 5ft how they expected me to get it out I don’t know but got full refund parcel still in bin."

Lynne Clapperton added: "Flung a heavy box through a wee top living room window bursting my blinds. (Could have left in garden/shed/neighbour) Took 8 months to get compensated."

Sandra Smith said: "In the bin sat out for collection, obviously I didn't get it!"

Heather Graham said: "In the full recycling bin which was due to be collected the next day. Thank god I got the card!"

Catriona Mitchell added: "A cardboard box in the cardboard bin with all the cardboard rubbish and no note through the door."

Devon Blyth posted: "Right outside the front door. In a block of flats. Right beside the lift. Safe to say, it wasn't there when I got home."

Tricia Moohan commented: "Large box under small doormat!!"

John Michael Hunt said: "Went to collect a package from a now defunct courier and was told it was in my locked garage. Apparently the delivery guy knew how to open garages. Sure enough, it was there."
