Edinburgh woman left disgusted after finding live maggot in her food at Nando's Fort Kinnaird

An Edinburgh woman was left disgusted after making a gruesome discovery in her food at a Nando's restaurant in Edinburgh.

Alix Alexander shared a video to Twitter of a live maggot moving around on her plate at the popular chain's restaurant at Forth Kinnaird.  

After making the "vile" discovery, she said: "@ NandosUK just what I wanted to be eating, maggots. Found at Fort Kinnaird nandos."

The video has been shared over 300 times, with one person commenting "BOKE not going back" along with others who also have also vowed to not return.

The Scottish Sun reports, that Nando's have offered her an apology and launched a probe into the incident.

A Nando’s spokesperson said: “The team in Edinburgh have sincerely apologised to Alix for what happened and compensated her.

“We regret any distress this event caused and our health and safety team are currently conducting a comprehensive review of what happened.

“We will do everything we can to make sure it does not happen again.”
