Edinburgh woman heartbroken as thousands of pounds worth of electronic goods stolen from Easter Road flat

An Edinburgh woman has issued a warning to other residents in the capital as she fell victim of a break-in which saw a large quantity of electronic goods stolen from her flat.

The woman, who lives on Easter Road, posted on a popular community page, saying: "My flat on Easter Rd was broken into on Weds 15 Sept around lunch time.

"They took three laptops including 2 Macs (one had a European charger) and a hp laptop (had an American charger).

"They also took an iPhone 7, tissot watch and a citizen watch, a Mulberry handbag, a Breitling Rucksack and a fossil purse as well as a Nikon Camera and a wallet amongst a few other things.

"If anyone comes across any of the above please do let me know. It would mean the world to us to have this back.

"And please be aware there are thieves in the area at the moment who will take any opportunity they can. Stay safe."

Many people commented their well wishes under the post, with one user stating: "I’m so sorry this happened. I’m in that neighbourhood, thank you for sharing. It’s always a worry, I’m sorry this happened to you, hopefully they get caught."

Another said: "Don’t know if u do this but I always leave my radio on … anything that could potentially put them off worth it in my book!

"Sorry, know that’s no help just now - at least you know what they took & insurance will sort it out but such an annoying pain. Take care."

Speaking to Edinburgh Live, the woman said: "We are okay now, just angry about the whole thing and trying to solve all of the problems it’s caused."

"We haven’t lived here long so don’t really know the neighbours too well. The ones we spoke to said it had been a while since our little block had been broken into.

"But on the post I posted on here there seems to be a number on Easter Road in general."

The approximate value of all of the stolen goods is around the £4500 mark, and will no doubt cost a small fortune to replace.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police were called around 1pm on Wednesday, 15 September, 2021 following the report of a housebreaking at a property on Easter Road, Edinburgh.

"A quantity of electronic good were stolen and enquiries are currently ongoing to trace those responsible.

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident number 1431 of Wednesday, 15 September, 2021."
