An Edinburgh woman said she was left “pecking like a pidgeon” after receiving a ‘stale baguette and half a loaf of bread’ from Greggs at Ocean Terminal.
Capital local DeeDee,40, decided to grab some movie snacks on the evening of July 6 before going to watch Fast and Furious at the shopping centre's cinema.
She decided to order a Greggs through the Too Good To Go app which reduces food waste by offering customers a ‘magic bag’ of store leftovers for a reduced price.
But DeeDee was left furious after paying £2.59 to receive a ‘stale’ baguette which had no filling, alongside half a loaf of bread.
She was even more ‘gobsmacked’ to discover that her baguette came in packaging which promised that it would be ‘filled with tasty ingredients.'

DeeDee said: “It’s great to save food waste but for a shop like Greggs who usually give filled sandwiches and filled baguettes with chicken or tuna, I was gobsmacked to see an opened used half loaf of 50/50 bread and a baguette with no fillings.
“This made me fume as this is not what Greggs should be doing, they know what they put in the bags this is taking the complete mickey.”
The woman that was left with nothing to eat in the cinema but the plain bread, adding: “It says ‘filled with tasty ingredients.'
“I never thought I would be sitting in the cinema pecking at stale bread like a pigeon rather than enjoy a tasty filled sandwich.
“The staff were nice and friendly but they still never should have chosen to give this to a customer.
“I enjoyed Fast and Furious and certainly was fast and furious when I wanted my filled sandwich.”
Greggs have since contacted DeeDee on social media to say that a ‘full investigation is now underway.’
Edinburgh Live also contacted Greggs for comment.
