Edinburgh will host hotel giant Hyatt's first Scottish location in Haymarket

Hotel giant Hyatt have announced that they are going to launch their first Scottish location in Edinburgh.

The group has entered a franchise agreement with the Edinburgh International Conference Centre to open Scotland’s first Hyatt hotel.

The 349-bedroom hotel will be located in the Haymarket area of the city and is due to open some time in 2025. It will also run a hospitality training academy in collaboration with Edinburgh College, to provide a stream of qualified personnel to the prospective hotel.

The new hotel, Hyatt Centric Edinburgh Haymarket, will be designed by Foster and Partners and aims to take a responsible and sustainable approach to the new project.

The interior of the hotel will be designed by the Glasgow based architectural firm, Ica, who specialise in hospitality and interior architecture.

Guests of the hotel will benefit from access to a gym, four meeting rooms and an eclectic dining offer, featuring a rotating selection of six street food brands that will take up residence in the hotel.

Marshall Dallas said: “The hotel and hotel school development is central to the EICC’s future as Scotland’s leading conference venue, and aligns with our mission to create an environment which inspires ideas that change the world.”

The hotel complex, which is situated close to the city centre, will also feature a number of office blocks and retail units as well as the Hospitality Training Academy, which will be run in collaboration with Edinburgh College.

This comes as the EICC announces they have secured a number of high profile conferences for 2023. With the hope that they will bring millions of pounds to the local economy as it attracts delegates from across the world.
