Edinburgh Weather: Yellow snow warning for Lothians, Penicuik, and parts of the capital

Parts of Edinburgh and the Lothians have been plunged into a yellow weather warning today for rain and snow.

South Edinburgh, Midlothian, and West Lothian will see the worst of the treacherous conditions with a warning in place from 4pm today until midnight.

The Met Office has warned that the weather is likely to cause 'heavy rain and snow which may lead to tricky travel.'

Here is what to expect and the weather report for Edinburgh and the Lothians today and tomorrow.

  • Some roads may be affected by flooding, spray or snow, leading to longer journey times.
  • Flooding of a few homes and businesses is possible
  • Train services possibly affected by flooding

Cloudy with a band of rain, sleet and snow feeding up from the southwest throughout the day. Rain most likely near coasts, with the heaviest snow over higher ground. Feeling cold in gusty easterly winds. Maximum temperature 2 °C.

Tonight:

We will continue to see outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow through this evening and overnight, this heavy at times. Minimum temperature -1 °C.
