Edinburgh weather: When heatwave will hit the capital next week

Edinburgh is set to welcome the sun and it seems that summer is going to stay a little longer.

Scotland was teased with an African plume earlier in August but Scots were left disappointed as temperatures struggled to reach past the early 20s.

However sun worshipers are in luck as the Met Office is reporting that toasty temperatures of 21 degrees will wash over Edinburgh next week.

On Tuesday (September 7) the forecast is looking like it will be sunny most of the day at highs of 22 degree with a little cloud in mid-afternoon that will lift by 4pm.

Even the day before, Edinburgh locals will enjoy highs of 20 by the late afternoon on Monday.

It will be well deserved as it is forecasted that heavy cloud will fill the sky through this week.

Looking forward, for September, Wednesday 15- 29, the Met Office says: "Confidence is relatively low during this period, as is usual for September, in part due to tropical storm activity across the Atlantic, which can significantly affect weather at the mid-latitudes.

"Currently, the evidence points towards the unsettled theme being likely to continue through the middle of the month, with a weak indication of possible drier conditions late in September.

"Therefore, rainfall is expected to be above average at first, with the chance of it easing and trending towards or drier than average later. Following this pattern, temperatures are expected to fluctuate around average in the middle of the month, with some occasional warm spells - these more likely in the southeast, and perhaps more widely towards the end of the month."
