Edinburgh weather: When heatwave will break into thunderstorms across capital

Edinburgh is shaping up to have a scorcher this weekend, with temperatures hitting 25°C across the capital.

Forecasters at the BBC have predicted that temperatures of 25°C, and blue, sunny skies are to be expected in the capital until Tuesday next week.

However, this stunning weather comes at a price, as the increase in pressure has led forecasters to predict heavy thunder and lightning next weekend.

Tomorrow, any low cloud and mist that develops overnight tonight will soon clear to leave another dry and bright day with plenty of sunshine expected.

It is expected to be very warm, with a maximum temperature of 25 °C and winds moderate from the west.

Sunday is predicted to be much the same as the previous few days, staying dry and settled, with highs of 22°C across Edinburgh from midday onwards.

Monday is where the experts at the BBC have forecasted the weather to begin to turn, with a little light and patchy rain possible early on.

Tuesday will continue quite cloudy at times, and there is the chance of the odd shower or spot of rain, with highs of 22°C.

By Thursday 22 July next week, the weather will become cloudy, with spots of rain possible across the capital at times.

Friday will see more rain beginning early on in the morning, from 8am onwards, only letting up at 9pm in the evening.

Saturday will be the most mixed up day of the week, with the sun peeking through in the early hours, only to be replaced by thunder and lightning at 1pm in the afternoon.

The thundery showers and moderate breeze is set to last from early afternoon, well into the evening, only eventually cooling off and becoming dry at 10pm.

Sunday's thunderstorm will be short and disappear as quickly as it started at 6pm in the evening, with the rain existing for most of the day.

However, the high temperatures and periodical sunshine is set to remain constant throughout these thunderstorms, with highs of 21°C across most of next weekend.
