Edinburgh weather: Week of downpours to arrive as lockdown rules ease

Edinburgh has been pretty lucky when it comes to the weather recently, with blue sunny skies and temperatures as hot as 16 degrees in some places.

The week has seen most locals out and about enjoying the sunshine, with restrictions now allowing garden gatherings and travel around Scotland.

However, it looks as if the warmth is about to end, with a colder front set to bring cooler winds, cloud and a decent amount of rain in the coming days.

Sunday is forecast by the Met Office to be the last sunny day, so we recommend you head out into the fresh air to soak up the last few rays.

The evening will be clear but cooler, with clouds starting to gather in the early hours of Monday morning. Sadly, by the time most get up, the sky will be grey and the temperature will be sitting at around nine degrees.

As the day goes on, rain showers will push through, dampening those who have managed to get a table booked at an outdoor beer garden or restaurant.

Unfortunately, Tuesday is set to be even more bleak, with heavier rain expected throughout the day and highs of around seven degrees. Wednesday is then to be drier, but still pretty cool.

Thursday and Friday are currently forecast to be a bit brighter, with both rain showers and sunny intervals expected throughout the day.

However, it won't be the mini-heatwave we were all hoping for to enjoy that first post-lockdown pint.
