Edinburgh weather: Travel warning still in place as the city wakes up to heavy snow

Weather warnings are still in place across Edinburgh and the Lothians as the city wakes to heavy snow.

After beginning on Tuesday evening, the snowfall continued into the early hours of the morning, with flutterings continuing still.

The Met Office has issued a continuous yellow weather warning for the city through today and tomorrow, with further snow and sleet expected.

Under a yellow warning, forecasters warned any drivers making an essential journey to take extra care on the roads, many of which may not be clear.

Disruptions and delays have also been predicted for public transport, with ScotRail urging passengers to allow extra time and check their app for any updates.

Pedestrians have also been asked to be cautious when using paths and pavements due to the risk of ice.

As the day continues, further precipitation is expected, with outbreaks of snow, sleet and rain.

Overnight, more snow is forecast, with the weather warning for ice and snow continuing throughout Thursday.
