Edinburgh weather this weekend: City set to wake up to snow on Saturday with warning in place

Yet another weather warning has been issued for Edinburgh and the Lothians, with snow and ice expected for much of Saturday.

Forecasters at the Met Office reckon we're in for some brutal weather starting at midnight tonight.

They say "a band of rain and heavy snow may lead to travel disruption" – not that we're allowed to travel at the moment anyway (exceptional circumstances aside).

According to a special map produced by weather experts at the Met Office parts of central Fife, central and southern Edinburgh, all of West Lothian and the whole of Midlothian should be braced for winter showers. Northern Edinburgh and parts of East Lothian might miss out.

Forecasters add "there is a small chance of travel delays on roads with some stranded vehicles and passengers".

They also say that there's "a small chance that untreated pavements and cycle paths become dangerous, posing a greater risk of injury".

The yellow weather warning will be in place from midnight on Friday to 6pm on Saturday.

On Sunday Edinburgh should be dry for the most part, with temperatures around 5C.

Any rainfall is likely to be later in the evening, with a slim possibility of some showers around 9pm.
