Edinburgh weather this weekend: Chilly few days ahead amid warnings of freezing 'polar blast'

In recent days we've been told to expect freezing cold conditions, with warnings that a "polar blast" could be set to bring sub-zero temperatures to Scotland.

Thankfully, this weekend in Edinburgh doesn't quite look that bad, although it is set to be a chilly one with temperatures predicted to be no better than six or seven degrees.

So if you're heading out a winter walk on Saturday or Sunday, you'll need to arm yourself with multiple layers. It is winter in Scotland, after all.

While it is set to be a cold one, it's not all bad news. We could see quite a bit of sunshine on Saturday, and there's no rain forecast this weekend.

According to the Met Office it should be bright and sunny on Saturday, with some cloud moving in later in the afternoon. Temperatures should start around 3C in the morning, and stay that way into the afternoon. Things could reach 4C or 5C around 2pm, but don't expect it to get any warmer than that.

On Sunday it doesn't look quite so cold, with temperatures around 6C or 7C in the afternoon. However it does look like being a bit less bright, with plenty of cloud expected.

So while it's a weekend to wrap up warm, at least you shouldn't need the waterproofs.

Although best not holding us to that... Scotland's weather is notoriously difficult to pin down.
