Edinburgh weather: The best time to grab a pint in the sun as outdoor hospitality reopens

As pub beer gardens and outdoor cafes and restaurants set to reopen in the city and across Scotland, many will be hoping for a dry day.

Pubs and restaurants won't be able to welcome customers indoors until 15 July, and many fear the often gloomy Scottish weather could put a dampener on plans for outdoor hospitality.

But after a weekend of wet weather and even a yellow warning, the Met Office forecast that Edinburgh should have a mostly dry day, even if it is cloudy.

There will be some light to moderate wind, and sunny spells are expected to be at their best early evening - around 7pm.

The temperature will pick up slowly throughout the day, with the Met Office forecasting it to reach a high of around 16C around 6pm.

Longer sunny spells are expected 7pm- 9pm, with sunset expected just before 10pm.

Scots have been urged to socialise sensibily if they are heading out to take advantage of the new lockdown rules which allow the hospitality industry to reopen outdoor areas.

It will be the first time in months people in Edinburgh have been able to get a pint at their local after pubs, bars and restaurants were forced to close to curb the spread of coronavirus.
