Edinburgh weather: Temperatures to drop as low as freezing over the weekend as winter hits

Conditions in Edinburgh are set to drop to freezing over the weekend, as temperatures plummet in the central belt.

Forecasters at the Met Office have stated that although the remainder of Friday will see a relatively mild and sunny day, cooler temperatures are set to hit overnight as we move into Saturday.

At present, Friday's forecast is showing sunny spells across Edinburgh and the Lothians into the evening, with a maximum temperature of 12 degrees.

However, a dry and clear night for the capital will see temperatures take a dramatic dip and will combine with some light winds that will see a misty Saturday morning.

Tomorrow morning (Saturday 7 November) will also see temperature gauges drop all the way down to freezing, as the Met Office predicts them to sit somewhere around one degree celsius.

Sunday will see more cloudy and damp conditions, however the maximum temperature will still remain at around 10 degrees.

With cooler temperature making an appearance, bets began earlier this week on whether or not Edinburgh will have a white Christmas.

Initial odds appear to look good for the capital, with figures currently sitting at 4/1.
