Edinburgh weather: Temperature to rise to 12C this week after subzero freeze

Edinburgh is set to bask in glorious highs of 11C. While that may not sound particularly toasty, it's far warmer than in recent weeks.

The mercury is set to reach 11C on Tuesday (16 February) with lows of three degrees. In fact, it's set to be clear blue skies with a blast of sunny weather - which makes a huge change from bitterly cold temperatures.

Meanwhile, there are highs of 12 degrees forecast on Saturday with showers, which are set to clear on Sunday when the temperature will dip only slightly to 11C.

It comes after last week the capital was hit with weather warnings across a number of days.

The Met Office even raised one warning for snow and ice to amber when blizzard conditions hit the city.

The weather brought travel chaos on the roads, with a lorry stranded on the Edinburgh Bypass and buses became trapped on Leith Street.

Though, the snow also brought some light relief, with locals skiing over jumps in the city centre streets, while others were filmed skiing down a picturesque Victoria Street.
