Edinburgh is bracing itself for the approach of Storm Ellen today which could see strong winds of up to 33 miles per hour battering the capital.
There is a yellow weather warning in place for wind until 18:00pm this evening as well as a flood warning in place across Scotland from SEPA.
The Met Office is warning "that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities" could be "affected by spray and large waves."
There is also a possibility that the storm could cause "short term loss of power" and 'delays to transport and travel' due to the likelihood of debris and trees being blown on to roads.

Storm Ellen is set to wreak havoc in the capital early this afternoon as Edinburgh is to be hit by winds of 33MPH between 1 pm and 2 pm today.
Winds will remain high throughout with the storm peaking again this evening from 6 pm onwards with heavy rain expected to accompany winds of 31 MPH.

The Met Office is warning to 'stay indoors' as much as possible during the storm and not to drive unless 'your journey is really necessary.'
