Edinburgh weather: Search for kayaker that went missing during the storm

An urgent search is underway in Edinburgh this evening for a kayaker caught up in the capital's flash floods.

A kayaker who was out near Cramond Island is missing - it has been reported that the alarm was raised just after 6pm this evening.

The Coastguard helicopter is currently searching the area and search teams are on the shore searching for the missing individual.

A spokesperson for HM Coastguard confirmed they were leading the search for the missing kayaker.

The news comes as the capital faces the aftermath of several flash floods, with most of the city struggling with flooding after an intense 30 minute rainfall this afternoon.
