Edinburgh weather: Persistent rain expected to arrive later on this evening

After a mixture of weather this week, Edinburgh is set to get some damp and rainy conditions over the next few days.

Friday (December 11) has been forecast to bring mostly cloudy skies, mixed in with some patchy light rain and drizzle as the day goes on.

Although the sky will be mostly covered in cloud, the Met Office has stated there should also be some brighter spells around the city.

This afternoon should also be relatively calm, with only light breezes moving through from the south, so you'll be able to use your umbrella in those showers later.

Temperatures will stay mild, with highs of around 8C.

Moving into this evening and it should stay relatively dry, however heavier rain is set to creep in during the early hours of the morning.

Looking to the weekend and Saturday's forecast is a little unpleasant, with persistent rain throughout most of the day.

Sunday will bring some brighter spells, however there may be some heavy rain showers in the afternoon.

Travel and driving should be safe, however motorists are asked to be aware of additional surface water.
