Edinburgh weather: This is when snow will fall again in the city as ice causes concern

Edinburgh locals have been warned to take extra care today as the Met Office extends its snow and ice warnings.

On Wednesday, forecasters had given a yellow warning for Edinburgh and the Lothians as further cold conditions made their way across the area.

However, this warning will continue until the end of Thursday, with increased chances of black ice and dangerous conditions.

Thursday morning is due to begin with heavy cloud and rain showers, which are predicted to turn to snow in the mid-morning as temperatures drop.

These colder temperatures are expected to remain throughout the day at around one or two degrees, however it will feel like -1/-2 C according to the MetOffice.

The weather may affect some roads and railway journeys, with pedestrians warned to take extra caution on icy paths.

A yellow weather warning also asks the public to avoid travel if possible, and to be aware of black ice and icy surfaces if travel is necessary.

However, Friday is set to bring slightly calmer weather, with temperatures ranging from 2C to a chilly -3C.
