Edinburgh weather: Hour-by-hour forecast for Thursday as city told to expect rain

Don't forget your umbrella if you are heading out in Edinburgh on Thursday as weather forecasters predict a wet day ahead.

October has already seen record rainfall across the UK, but more is yet to come with showers expected throughout the day.

Temperatures will reach a maximum of 10C in the city, with wind gust of up to 17mph predicted.

The Met Office said: "Cloudy with some occasional rain in the morning, this mainly in the east.

"Staying cloudy into the afternoon with some patchy rain in the east, but dry in the southwest. Maximum temperature 10 °C."

Morning

The morning will be mostly dry until 9am, when locals can expect a chance of showers as the sky remains cloudy. But the Met Office warn there's a risk of heavier showers come 10am into the late morning.

Afternoon

Showers are expected to continue into the late afternoon, with a maximum temperature of around 10C forecast.

Evening

Showers are expected to tail off around 6pm, with the sky likely to remain cloudy well into the evening. Sunset is expected around 6pm.
