Edinburgh weather for the rest of the week as Met Office flood warning lifts

Edinburgh's weather warnings are scheduled to be lifted, with positive news that the flooding we were all told about failed to materialise.

There were heavy rain showers, and some thunderstorms, in parts of the country, but thankfully nothing which caused a repeat of the disruption witnessed here in the Scottish capital earlier this month.

So, with Met Office weather alerts cleared, we thought we'd take a look at what's in store for the remainder of the week.

And sorry to break it to you, but it doesn't look too clever.

Forecasters at the Met Office reckon heavy rain showers will arrive in Edinburgh early on Thursday afternoon, after a cloudy start to the day. The downpours are then likely to continue throughout the afternoon, getting particularly heavy around 3pm and 4pm, before easing off at around 9pm.

It's still likely to be warm with temperatures hovering close to 17C or 18C for the most part.

Thankfully Friday looks a bit better, with sunshine and showers throughout, and a 10 per cent chance of rain. Temperatures could hit highs of 19C.

Looking ahead to the weekend and Saturday looks wet with rain forecast from around 10pm to mid afternoon, before restarting around 10pm, however we should see a dry start to August with sunshine and clouds on Sunday.

We'll bring you all the very latest weather updates throughout the week.
