Edinburgh weather: Exact time thunderstorms will hit as capital braces for impact

Edinburgh has been told to prepare for some more rainy weather, as the Met Office predicts another yellow thunderstorm warning.

Forecasters at the Met Office have stated that tomorrow's weather is expected to be "slow-moving, heavy downpours, some thundery, may cause flooding and travel disruption."

Their reasoning for the yellow weather warning is as follows, "Warning extended northwards with heavy showers now expected more widely over Scotland and trimmed northwards away from parts of Wales and the Midlands where impactful showers now look less likely."

The warning begins from 4am tomorrow morning, and will not be lifted until midnight on Friday, but the forecasters at the Met Office have predicted that the heavy rain may continue over the next couple of days at least.

Today's forecast

Some brightness across Lothian and Borders this morning. Otherwise a rather cloudy day with occasional showers, briefly heavy in places. Feeling warm in any sunshine. Brisk winds along many coastal areas this afternoon. Maximum temperature 22 °C.

Tonight's forecast

A mostly cloudy evening and night with scattered showers or longer spells of rain, these heavy at times. Brisk coastal winds easing down. Rather warm and humid. Minimum temperature 14 °C.

Friday's forecast

Some bright or sunny intervals and scattered showers, occasionally heavy and thundery. Feeling warm and humid. Maximum temperature 21 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday

Remaining unsettled with further showers, heavy at times. Southwest may become drier on Monday. Feeling warm in any sunshine.
