Edinburgh weather: Exact time capital will be hit with thunder, lighting and torrential rain

Edinburgh is to be hit with heavy showers and thunderstorms that may cause flooding and disruption.

It comes as the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning in the capital for August 8 that looks set to last until at least 9pm on Monday, August 9.

Weather experts are predicting that capital locals could experience sudden flooding that could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

The Met Office said: “Heavy, slow-moving, thundery downpours will develop on Monday.

"Some places will miss these, but where they do occur, 20-30 mm rain may fall in a short space of time, perhaps with 50-80 mm over several hours in a few places.

“The showers will die out during the evening.”

The exact time thunderstorms are predicted to hit Edinburgh.

According to the Met Office, Edinburgh is to experience the worst of the thunderstorm warning tomorrow afternoon (August 8).

The morning is to bring some sunny spells which are to turn to scattered heavy afternoon showers as the day goes on.

A thunder and lightning storm is currently predicted to hit Edinburgh at around 4 pm on Monday alongside heavy showers.

What to expect
