Edinburgh weather: Exact day heavy snow will hit city according to experts

Edinburgh is set for heavy snowfall and experts have predicted the exact day it will hit the capital city.

Weather forecasters at WXCharts say that up to eight inches of the white stuff are set to fall in Scotland.

Snow flurries are expected to arrive from today onwards but it is Monday that the major snowfall is expected.

The Highlands are expected to be the worst hit but the flurries are expected to travel down and hit Edinburgh and parts of Glasgow too.

The Met Office say that it will rain today but it will be cold and dry on Thursday and Friday, and they expect to see rain or snow in Edinburgh over the weekend.

They continue saying that it is expected to be rather unsettled over the weekend but will remain cold throughout.

A Met Office spokesperson predicts that the cold winter weather will remain in the UK throughout the next two weeks.

They said: “Unsettled weather dominates with spells of wet and windy weather, interspersed by interludes of sunshine and showers.

“More prolonged spells of rain are possible, heavy at times. Initially these more likely across the south and west, although the greatest risk probably transfers north through the period, which could then see rain turning wintry at times.

“Generally cold, with milder interludes briefly in the south. Overnight frost and icy patches likely throughout.”

However, the experts behind the 14-day BBC weather forecast appear to disagree.

For the next fortnight they predict that Edinburgh will be cold and will see rain showers throughout, but say there will be no snow!
