Edinburgh weather: Exact date hot weather will return to the city after more heavy rain

Edinburgh has been through a plethora of different weathers over the last few weeks, from scorching hot temperatures to blustery thunderstorms.

The heavy rain seems to not show any sign of letting up, as the capital flooded in various neighbourhoods, causing havoc for drivers and homeowners everywhere.

But the weather is set to switch up in the next two weeks, with the sunshine and clear skies expected to return by Monday August 23.

Forecasters at the Met Office have stated, "Moving further into next week and for the rest of the period, high pressure may become more dominant with many areas seeing more settled conditions.

"However, changeable conditions remain possible across parts of the north and spells of heavy showers or thunderstorms can't be ruled out across parts of the south at times.

"Temperatures expected to be around average for most for this time of year, though with some warmer weather in more settled spells."

As for next week, the BBC have said, "Monday looks to start mostly cloudy with some spots of rain, turning dry with sunshine in the afternoon."

So, what is this weekend looking like for the weather?

Today's forecast

A dry and bright start with sunny spells. A scattering of showers developing in the afternoon and early evening, mainly for Dumfrieshire. Freshening southwesterly winds. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Tomorrow's forecast

Windy but mainly dry overnight with plenty of clear spells especially in the east. A few showers may pop up along the Borders. Minimum temperature 12 °C.

Friday's forecast

A very blustery day with some showers, occasionally heavy, but moving through quickly on strong winds. A few brighter interludes too. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday

Winds turning northwesterly on Saturday and still blustery with a few showers, feeling cooler. Winds easing later Saturday with a brighter afternoon. Rain in south on Sunday and showers Monday.
