Edinburgh weather: Dangerous ice warning remains in place with temperatures set to stay low

A yellow ice warning remains in place in Edinburgh on Friday, with locals warned to take care if they are heading out.

After a week of rain and snow, the Met Office has warned that underfoot conditions could be affected.

Untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths could be particularly hazardous, weather forecasters said.

The snow and rain is expected to die out, with Friday expected to be largely dry and clear with some sunny spells.

Temperatures will remain low, with a high of 3C expected around mid afternoon before the mercury starts to drop again. "Feels like" temperatures could be as low as -2C into Friday evening.

Visibility is predicted to be good throughout the day, the Met Office said.

Heading into Friday, more heavy rain is expected in the early hours turning to light showers by mid-afternoon with some sunny spells.

Despite the rain, it's likely to be a little warmer with max temperatures of around 7C mid afternoon.

A Met Office spokesperson said unsettled conditions are likely to last into next week, and urged Scots to look out for fresh weather warnings at little notice.
